POLYCRYSTAL PRODUCTION
The raw materials (hydrogen and trichlosilane) are placed in special reactors, where chemical reactions take place at high temperature.
This causes these materials to deposit as solid silicon “agglomerates” on special supports called “cores” placed in the reactors.
After deposition has been completed, the reactors are allowed to cool and are then opened.
The raw materials that have not reacted are discharged from the reactors upon completion of crystal deposition. They are then re-purified and ultimately recycled back into the production process.
The temperature required for the reaction is achieved electrically. The reactors are cooled by a water cooling system, which is a completely closed system in the new plant.
